Is the Twilight fixation of middle aged wives and mothers a kind of peter pan syndrome once and for all?

Honestly, not to offend some of the mature ladies here but I am sure you can understand that when you were younger (and even now as it so happens) and were your mothers to set up fanclubs to some idol of yours from a show or a pop group or film, you would find it a little peculiar. Each generation had its own and that is always how it has been. That is nature. People move into different stages of their lives and have different values and priorities and outlooks. Ideally, coming into menopausal years one should be past developing crushes on what is now your daughters crush. When I saw the Oprah special all of the wives and mothers on there reminded me of how they probably were when they were teens and were just in love with Bon Jovi or Axl Rose or Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street. It seems like the past couple of generations in the West have been so catered to and spoiled in a sense that people don't grow up. They expect to be the centre of the world. We would have NEVER seen our foremothers behave like the Twilight Moms in America behave today. It would have been seen as ridiculous. They are supposed to be the adults. On one segment a little boy actually said 'my mom just fast forwards to all the Ed Cullen parts'..I cannot respect this trend. When I am in my forties, I hope to God I do not behave like this for the latest trend or craze or hearthrob even. I don't do it now and I am 21. Also, I only see American women behave like this. Here in the UK and Ireland it does not seem to be the case.
