88 CRX hi flo cat or byp altogether?

I have an '88 CRX and it still has the stock catalytic converter attached (probably the same one from back in the 80's when it was made...). It has a 3" pipe catback exhaust and I'm thinking this itty bitty, (probably clogged) cat is choking the airflow. Should I get a High Flow Cat, or just attach a straight pipe where the cat should be? I'm not concerned about emissions at the moment.
